Supreme Court takes on two marriage equality cases

The Supreme Court announced Dec. 7 that it would hear two cases challenging state and federal laws on the basis of marriage equality.

A case from California could establish the constitutionality of same-sex marriage.

The other comes from New York and challenges the federal law that denies benefits to legally married gay and lesbian couples.
