OCU wrestling is ranked No. 8 in NAIA, beyond that achievement, the women’s team is on a record run. With a 10-0 record, the Stars women’s wrestling team is ranked first in the Women’s College Wrestling Association rankings for 2011-12 season.

The Stars have won the past three WCWA championships, four NWCA National Dual titles and 61 of their last 62 duals.

The teams following OCU in the rankings are, No. 2 King (Tenn.), No. 3 Simon Fraser (British Columbia), No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.), No. 5 Wayland Baptist (Texas) and No. 6 Lindenwood (Mo.) this season.

“We have really simple goals for our women’s program,” OCU coach Archie Randall said. “We want to win the national dual championship. We want to win the WCWA title. This is an Olympic year. We’re hoping to put 12 girls in the Olympic Trials. It would be a benchmark for our program. We think we have two girls who have a legitimate shot of being on the Olympic team.”

The NWCA National Duals will be Jan. 6-7 in Springfield, Ill., and the WCWA Championships will happen Jan. 28 in Bristol, Tenn.
