Poulin plans to empower students

By Susannah Waite, Editor-in-Chief

Jeff Poulin

Poulin became involved with SGA at the first opportunity.

Poulin was director of internal relations for SGA from 2008 to 2009.

“I got involved in other activities and over the past year I contemplated where I wanted to go from here,” he said. “In January, I decided to run for president.”

Poulin said he has past leadership experience to prepare him for presidency.

“I’ve always been a leader within a wide array of organizations,” he said. “I feel that I demonstrate qualities that enhance the role of president of SGA.”

He also attributes his readiness to knowing past presidents of SGA, Poulin said.

“The first year SGA really formed as the body it is now was in 2008, and I feel like I’ve been there since the beginning,” Poulin said.

The most important thing to him if he is elected is listening to the individual.

“I want students to be heard,” he said. “Then we will be better able to address issues.”

One of his platform issues is to empower students to share their voice, Poulin said.

“I want to effectively and efficiently communicate with students,” he said. “I want SGA to be positively engaged with the campus as a whole.

“I want to serve the population and enhance the university.”

This article initially appeared in the March 23 issue of The Campus newspaper.
