Suspected E. Coli contamination leads to ground beef recall

By Nathan Hatcher, Associate Editor

The American Food Service of Pico Rivera, based in California, recalled more than 3,000 pounds of ground beef products when a threat of E. Coli contamination hit the company.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture made the announcement Saturday.

An unnamed “federal regulated establishment” contacted the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the USDA claiming they believed that they had received “suspect product.”

No accounts of illness due to the contaminated ground beef have been released.
